Video Solution Problem for Chapter 17 Section 3 - Translational Kinetics.

 

The trailer portion of a truck has a mass of 4 Mg with a center of mass at G. If a uniform crate, having a mass of 800 kg and a center of mass at Gc, rests on the trailer, determine the horizontal and vertical components of reaction at the ball-and-socket joint (pin) A when the truck is decelerating at a constant rate of a=3 m/s2. Assume that the crate does not slip on the trailer and neglect the mass of the wheels. The wheels at B roll freely.

Ax=14.40 kN, Ay=21.7 kN
