acceleration, velocity and position formulas
Starting from rest, a particle moving in a straight line has an acceleration of a=(2t−6) m/s2, where t is in seconds.
What is the particle's velocity when t = 7 s ?
Express your answer to three significant figures and include the appropriate units.
v is simply the integral with respect to time of a
v = t2-6t
and you plug in 7 for the time and you get
v(7)=7 m/s
What is the particle's position when t = 13 s ?
Express your answer to three significant figures and include the appropriate units.
The position is the integral with respect to time of the velocity
s = t3/3 -3t2
and you plug in the 13 for the t to get the answer
s(13)=225 m
